The Department of Financial Services (DFS) successfully concluded a two‑day workshop designed to enhance the accessibility of financial services for persons with disabilities across the country. Hosted in a major metropolitan centre, the event convened more than a hundred stakeholders, including senior officials from the Reserve Bank, representatives of public and private banks, disability‑rights NGOs, fintech firms, and experts in universal design. The department pledged to incorporate the workshop’s recommendations into its upcoming financial inclusion roadmap, aiming to increase the number of persons with disabilities who hold formal bank accounts and regularly use digital payment tools.

The initiative reflects a broader governmental push to deepen financial inclusion, building on earlier schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and the push for a cash‑less economy.
